Phil Rashkin is an active educator in the New York City school system. At The Special Music School, Mr. Rashkin works as director and conductor of its wind ensemble. At SMS, he also teaches classes on entrepreneurship, audition preparation, musical activism, and understanding how to listen and speak about music. Mr. Rashkin also teaches at the Horace Mann School as a private oboe instructor and private piano instructor. Mr. Rashkin teaches at Mannes Prep, one of the nation’s leading pre-conservatory programs, as an oboist and history professor. During the summer, Mr. Rashkin teaches at Manhattan School of Music’s summer program for high school students called Camp MSM, and has taught at the Kinhaven Music School in Vermont. Mr. Rashkin also maintains an active private studio in conducting, oboe, and piano.
