My name is Phil Rashkin, and I am a professional musician and mentor for many of the country’s most talented high school musicians. I have been on the music faculty of The Horace Mann School, The Special Music School, Mannes Conservatory Pre-College, and Manhattan School of Music.

My students have been accepted to Harvard, Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton, Penn, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Amherst, Barnard, Vassar, Williams, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, UChicago, Carnegie Mellon, Manhattan School of Music, The Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, The Colburn School, The Curtis Institute of Music, and The Juilliard School. In addition, my students have received a combined $750,000+ in merit scholarships.

For my younger students, I’ve coached them to receive acceptance to LaGuardia High School, The Special Music School, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Juilliard Pre-College, Mannes Pre-College, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, Interlochen School of the Arts, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

As a professional musician, I toured with Josh Groban for the release of his album Stages, performed in the Downtown Sinfonietta chamber orchestra with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and performed at Carnegie Hall 13 times. I contributed as a musician to the Amazon television series Mozart in the Jungle and Netflix original movie Maestro, starring and directed by Bradley Cooper. Additionally, I served as Music Director of Opera Upper West, and performances under his leadership received critical acclaim in The New York Times and were featured in the top position of their weekly column “Classical Music in NYC.”

I holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Mannes College The New School for Music, where I graduated with honors and was the class speaker. In college, I studied music with members of the New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
