♫ Hello! I'm Phil, and it's nice to meet you! ♫

I’m a musician who lives in New York City. I love what I do, and I perform and teach music around the world. I play piano, oboe, english horn, compose original music, and direct ensembles.

As an oboe player, I toured with Josh Groban for the release of his album Stages, and I performed at the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards with Paul Shaffer, Joe Torre, and Martha Stewart. For several years, I played in the Downtown Sinfonietta chamber orchestra with members from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

I am also featured in the Amazon television series Mozart in the Jungle and Netflix original movie Maestro starring Bradley Cooper. For Maestro, it was a lot of fun filming in Carnegie Hall to recreate the debut concert of Leonard Bernstein with The New York Philharmonic. I even got to wear an original suit from the 1940’s!

I conduct the Wind Ensemble at the Special Music High School, a New York City public school for musically prodigious students. I was the music director of the opera company Opera Upper West, and I led productions of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Poulenc’s La voix humaine, Menotti’s The Telephone, and Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied.

My musical training includes a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Music from Mannes College The New School for Music. I have taught at The Horace Mann School, Mannes Preparatory at The New School, Kinhaven Music School, The Kaufman Music Center, and Manhattan School of Music Summer.
