Phil Rashkin is an orchestral, operatic, and contemporary music conductor. As music director of Opera Upper West, an immersive Manhattan-based opera company, Mr. Rashkin recently conducted Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied. In previous seasons with the company, Mr. Rashkin has conducted Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and performed and conducted from the Piano-Vocal score of Poulenc’s La voix humaine and Menotti’s The Telephone. Mr. Rashkin is also the conductor and director of the wind ensemble at the Special Music School, a New York City public school for musically gifted students who desire to focus on musical studies. Mr. Rashkin conducts and coaches with Face the Music, an after-school program that teaches high school students contemporary music repertoire. Additionally, Mr. Rashkin is the assistant conductor of the Manhattan Symphonie.
